Communications Flashcards
stimulus pathway:
stimulus –> receptor –> mesenger –> effector –> response
light: stimulus
organs/receptor
photoreceptor, eye
sound/pressure: stimulus
organs/receptor
mechanoreceptor, ear, skin
chemicals
chemoreceptor, tongue/nose
conjunctiva:
protective layer on eye, prevent friction
optic nerve:
bundles of sensory neurons, transmit impulses from retina–> brain
cornea:
transparent film, help focus–> refracts light to lens
ciliary body
supports the lens by ligaments, alters shape of lens
sclera:
white of eye, protects eye and maintain shape
aqueous/vitreous humour:
watery/jelly fluid, maintains shape of eye
choroid:
contains blood vessels/ pigment, prevents internal reflection
lens:
flexible clear structure, allows light enter, refracts light –> focusig image on retina
retina:
photoreceptors detects light
