Risalah, angels and prophets
Define Risalah
A channel of communication between Allah and mankind through the medium of angels
Why do Muslims believe in Angels?
Because it says so in the Quran - one of the six Sunni principles
Why did Allah create angles?
So that they could communicate to people and restore people to the afterlife
What is the chain of Risalah?
Allah -> Angels -> Prophets -> Humans
What are angels like according to Islam?
Pure and sinless because they have no free will and must obey Allah. They worship Allah and have the ability to take human form.
Who is Jibril?
The angel that sends messages to prophets so they can be written in holy books (Quran)
He is the most important of all angels
Gave Quran to Muhammad (put knowledge in his head)
Who is Mi’kail?
Guardian of heaven from Shaytan
2nd most important angel
Sends rain to Earth for crops to grow
Who is Izrail?
Takes your soul when you die as Allah says
Accompanies your soul to be judged
Known as the angel of death
Who is Iblis (Shaytan)?
Used to be one of God’s followers but refused to bow down
Was banished from heaven
Started his own kingdom called hell
Why is Iblis still able to tempt humans?
Because he begged God to postpone his punishment until the last day
Who are the Jinn?
Eternal beings that are similar to angels but hve free will
Iblis was a Jinn
Why did Allah create Iblis?
To test mankind
Who was Ibrahim?
Born into a polytheistic family whom he rejected
Banned polytheism
People tried to burn him but Allah saved him
Who is Musa (Moses)?
Allah spoke to Musa through a burning bush
Born a Jew
Chosen to receive the holy Torah
People rejected him at first
Who is Isa?
His mother was the most virtuous of women
He performed miracles by the will of Allah
Muslims believe he was taken to heaven
Son of Mary
Not son of Allah
He was given Injil (Gospel)
