Aircraft Procedures

A

If the aircraft fails to indicate that it is able to receive and acknowledge transmissions, separation shall be maintained between other aircraft based on the assumption that the aircraft will: -

VMC
-continue to fly in VMC
-land at the nearest suitable aerodrome
-report its arrival to the appropriate ATC unit.

IMC
//in airspace where procedural separation is being applied // - maintain the last assigned speed and level or minimum flight altitude if higher, for a period of 20mins following A/c failure to report its position over a compulsory reporting point and thereafter adjust level and speed in accordance with filed flight plan.

//in airspace where an ATS surveillance system is used in the provision of ATC (eg ADS-B)// - maintain last assigned speed and level, or minimum flight altitude if higher, for a period of 7 mins following :
-the time the last assigned level is reached or
-the time the transponder is set to 7600 or
-the a/c failure to report its position over a compulsory reporting point
, whichever is later and thereafter adjust level and speed in accordance with flight plan.

//when being vectored//-
Proceed in the most direct manner possible to rejoin the current flight plan route no later than the next significant point.

Proceed according to flight plan route to appropriate designated NAVAID or fix serving the destination aerodrome and hold (if needed) then commence descent at or as close as possible to EAT or if no EAT the ETA resulting from current flight plan.

Complete a normal IAP specified for the designated NAVAID or fix and land, if possible, within 30 mins after the ETA above.
