  • Missing speed restriction board

  • Train evacuation, urgent but controlled.

What is an emergency call, what happens when you make one?

A

A top priority call that affects the safety of not only your line but any other lines or is an imminent risk to life. A stop message will be sent to all other trains in the area in this instance.

What is an urgent call?

A

An urgent call is important but involves an incident that only affects my line.

What must you do when you hear an emergency call?

A

Stop your train immediately and do not move until instructed to by the signaller. You should press the ST button to indicate to the signaller that you have come to a stop.

During the emergency call you should not speak unless you have initiated the call or have important information to add relevant to the emergency.

Talk through the process of an emergency call.

A

After bringing your train to a stop and securing it, press the emergency call button.

1 - State who you are and confirm you are speaking to the signaller.
2 - Explain what you have, what you need and where you are.
3 - Repeat back any safety critical info and authority number.

Remember to start each sentence with your train ID and to end each sentence with ‘OVER’.
