does not branch until it enters the carotid canal

carotid sheath
Where is the vagus nerve?
between the common carotid and internal jugular
it is also in the carotid sheath
What is on the outside of the carotid sheath?
Ansa Cervacalis nerve
What is a Carotid Endarterectomy?
Carotid and branches are sites for calcified plaque (can be seen by an ultrasound)
this is a procedure for cutting into the carotid to clear stuff out
