Describe machine rounding & backing
-Makes placement in book cover easier
-Makes spine stronger
-Increases the binding strength, helps open the book easier
15-20% of thickness of the book should be the approximate for rounding (makes easier to open book)
-glue must be heated

Found on speciality books, (the bible, cookbooks
Expensive
Pleased on head then base + 2c OR Spine underneath headband then btwn pages
Describe the:
- roller principle
- Backing principle
- When roller squeezes book and creates rounding by pressure

Metallic effect = foil stamp applied w/ heat but still able to split apart (treat edge first…..can be done pg by pg)

Protects: book inside, spine, surface Describes what's inside Used as advertisement (marketing tool) to attract audience 2 panels + spine + board Binding line cut before case making
Describe cashing in & finishing
stack of cases, case taken from bottom of pile (already has some rounding)
- ‐ line up btwn block and case > wing come down under book
- ‐ wing goes inside book & through pasting rollers, and up into case
- ‐ rollers smooth it all out
- ‐ then pressed to make hinges w/ heated rails
Describe jacketing
> premade book jackets are press up and over case
If there is track on both sides of the book block, can allow the jacket to fit without falling
