10
Q

What happens when you exceed critical angle of attack?

A

Airflow can no longer flow over the wings, resulting in loss of lift leading to a stall.

Q

What are NOTAMS?
Different types?

A

Notice to airman is a notice containing information that is essential for flight operations.

Notam (D) - for airports, conditions or charts.

Pointer - Are to “point out” additional information of (D).

FDC- issued by the National Flight Data Center addressing changes in charts, procedures, airspace.

Military- military airports & airspace.

International- Distributed by more than one country.

Special airspace (SAA)- What airspace is active outside it’s normal published times.

20
Q

RNAV

A

Area Navigation equipment includes VOR/DME, LORAN, GPS and internal Navigation equipment. capable of using aircraft equipment to determine position, actual track, ground speed and then taking that information to make it meaningful for the pilots in the form of distance, cross track error and ETA relative to selected track or waypoint.

21
Q

DME

A

Distance Measuring Equipment used to measure slant distance on the ground or airborne in NM from DME navigational aid. Accuracy reliable up to 199NM.

22
Q

GPS

A

Global positioning system is space based navigation system uses up to minimum of 4 satellites to determine three dimensional position.

23
Q

RMI

A

Radio Magnetic indicator is an aircraft navigational instrument working with gyro compass that indications direction to selected NAVAID (like vor or ndb) and indicated bearing with respect to heading.

24
Q

different methods for VOR checks,
error limits.

A

VOT check location -+4
Ground check -+ 4
Dual VOR check -+4
Airborne +-6
Selected Radial over ground point +-6

INCLUDE Date, place, location, error and name in aircraft log.

25
Q

NDB

A

Non directional beacon is a ground base radio transmitter that transmits radio energy in all directions.

26
Q

ADF

A

Automatic direction finder is a receiver in the aircraft that determines bearing from the aircraft to the transmitting station. AKA ADF points to NDB ground station to determine bearing.

27
Q

MEF

A

Maximum Elevation Figure.
the highest terrain or obstacle in that quadrant.
