What is a law?
Laws are rules that apply to all people at all times and have legal consequences if they are not followed
How are laws made?
Laws are made by parliaments and courts
Why do we need laws?
Laws help us all to behave safely, fairly and respectfully.
What is law defined as?
The system of rules which a particular country or community recognises as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties
What are laws that we as students need to follow?
- Wearing a seatbelt
- Wearing a bike helmet
- Attending school
Who is made to enforce laws?
The police and the courts are both responsible for making sure the laws are followed.
What are the dangers of living in an anarchist society?
Without a central government, individuals or communities govern themselves. This can lead to increased personal freedom but may also result in challenges maintaining order and resolving disputes.
What are the four main purposes of law?
To establish boundaries, for protection, freedom and resolving disputes.
Is anarchy good or bad?
The outcomes vary based on how people choose to interact in the absence of formal governance.
What is the diffrence between laws and rules?
Rules are made by groups and their leaders while laws are made by the parliament and the courts. Law is made followed by police and courts with leagal consequences if not upheld like jail time and fines but rules are only held up by the group leaders with not as serious consequences.
What are the consequences of not following laws?
There can be major consequences for people who break laws such as having to pay a fine or going to jail.
What is anarchy?
Anarchy is a state of society without government or law, where individuals or communities govern themselves without a central authority.
What is private law?
It deals with how individuals interact with other individuals as well as the rights and duties people have towards each other
What is public law?
It is concerned with regulating people’s behaviour within society as a whole and protects the freedom of individuals. It also deals with the conduct society expects from its government (the state).
What is domestic law?
Domestic law is the set of rules and principles that apply within a specific country, based on its constitution and court decisions.
What is international law?
International law governs the interactions between states and international entities on a global scale, addressing matters of mutual concern and interest. Unlike domestic law, which is specific to one country, international law is a set of regulations that transcend national borders and apply universally.

What is Tort Law?
The law tort deals with situations when one person infringes the rights of another, resulting in distress or injury ; for example the mental distress caused by being bullied. The person injured may claim financial compensation from the other party for any loss suffered.
What is Property Law?
This law recognised two broad types of property: real property (land and building) and personal property( goods and services we purchase). Specifically, property law provides regulations about the sale, leasings and hiring of property.
What is Industrial Law?
This law is concerned with the rights and obligations of employers and employees. Much of the deals with the legal way of resolving industrial disputes workers compensation, occupational health and safety, and discrimination in the workplace
What is Criminal Law?
Criminal laws are needed to keep the community safe from harm, to provide for an orderly society and to provide a way of dealing with a crime when it occurs. Offenders will be punished if they choose to put people and property at risk.
What is Family Law?
This law regulates family relationships. It sets out rules about the process of getting married: who can get married: de facto relationship; divorce; custody; and other aspects involving family members.
What is Contract Law?
This set of law is concerned with legal agreement between two or more people. If one party fails to carry out his or her side of the agreement, that person can be sued for breach of contract.
What is Constitutional Law?
This set of laws deals with the rules by which a country is governed. It is concerned with the power and authority of parliament: the rights of each citizen : the power between the federal and state.
