Concentrate on the “small stuff” that can sabotage your communication:
- Passive Voice
- Unclear Language
- Excessive Wordiness
- Grammatical Errors
- Spelling Mistakes
Sentences, Phrases, and Words

Providing Feedback Guidelines
- Feedback should describe rather than judge
- Feedback is both positive and negative
- Feedback should be specific rather than general
- Feedback should take into account the needs of both the receiver and the giver of the feedback
- Feedback should be directed at behavior the receiver can control
- Feedback should analyzed to ensure clear communication
- Feedback should be solicited rather than imposed (except in the superior-subordinate situation)
- Feedback should be directed at a person’s work or behavior, not at the person
