When to screen for CRC in a patient with +ve family History (first degree relative at age 60 or older) ?
According to ACG Guidelines:
Begin at age 50 and repeat every 10 yrs
When to screen for CRC in a patient with +ve family History (first degree relative at age 60 or two or more 1st degree relatives had CRC at any age) ?
At age 40 or 10 yrs before the youngest repative’s diagnosis
And repeat every 5 yrs
When to screen for CRC in a patient with No family History (Average risk population)
. Start at age 50 or 60 depending on the guidelines.
. Repeat every 1-2 yrs
Method of screening of CRC in average risk population(-ve FH)
Start with FOBT, then if +ve proceed with colonoscopy
