- Its notable because its the first time that success jury nullification occurs.
- It establishes the importance in the american colonial publics mind of the
importance of being able to expose/criticize government officials.
Declaration of Independence
-It has no legal weight, its purpose was to let people know that a new nation was forming and it was also a declaration of war.
(the right to pursue happiness in the declaration is not law binding)
Constitution / Bill of Rights
Constitution: Created to be the law of the land, then the bill of rights were added to the constitution, including the 1st amendment.
establishment clause
The Establishment Clause is a limitation placed upon the United States Congress preventing it from passing legislation respecting an establishment of religion.
separation of church and state
free exercise clause
should be able to practice/display their religion how they wish.

- list of grievances
- Preamble- Asserted the rights to life liberty and pursuit of happiness as inalienable rights and it was the governments role to secure these rights and that there is a right to revolution. preamble served to lay the foundation for the list of grievances.
- list of grievances- the part of the declaration that demanded action.
