A credit-by-examination program that helps students earn college degrees more quickly. Students can take tests on subjects they already know in an attempt to earn from 3 to 12 college credits for every test taken. Also called College-Level Examination Program.

A standard application form that is accepted by approximately 400 colleges instead of their own form. Students can fill out one form and submit copies of it to any of the schools that accept it, saving themselves hours of work.

These schools are known to be very affordable options. Some examples of public two-year schools include all schools in the California Community College System, such as Bakersfield College.
