A
- 15% of peasant households were destroyed (was meant to be 4%)
- 150,000 richer peasants forced to migrate north
- some tried to kill livestock and burn crops to avoid being labelled as ‘kulaks’

What did collectivisation stage 1 entail
A
- get peasants to live and work in Kolkhoz collectively
- aim was 25% of grain farming areas to be collectivised
- by march 1930 58% of peasant households were collectivised
- this was enforced by propaganda, Cheka, army and fear of what happened to kulaks

What was the negatives of collectivisation
A
- speed of collectivisation caused massive hostility
- voluntary collectivisation reverted to for brief period
- this lead to only 20% of peasant households being collectivised by October 1930
