Because Stalin realised he needed to step his game up when the US drooped the bombs on Japan

Europe being divided into two political sides: communist and capitalist
What is the Truman Doctrine?
Announced in March 1947, The US sent advice and support to countries threatened by communist takeover
What is the Marshall Plan?
Announced in June 1947, promised $17 billion of aid to European countries to help build their economies.
What was Cominform
Feeling threatened by the US doctrine and plan, Stalin created com-inform in order to unite his allies. Communist information bureau was set up in 1947. Place all communist countries under USSR.
What is the Comecon
The council for the mutual economic assistance was established in 1949 and countered the Marshall plan by nationalising industries, collectivising agriculture and offering economic aid.
What did China do in February 1950
Signed a treaty of alliance with China, scaring the west
When did Stalin die?
In 1953, he was then replaced by a member of the communist party, Nikita Khrushchev.
