Q

Class II overshot bite
1. Etiology
2. Tx (2)

A
  1. Etiology
    - Lower teeth will hit hard palate
    - May form oronasal fistula
  2. Tx
    - Remove primary lower k9’s at 3 months

Q

Dental delivery unit
Air-driven vs Motor-driven

A

Air-driven
- Need oil & air storage tank maintenance!
- High speed (200,000-400,000rpm)
- Low speed (5,000-20,000rpm)
- Water thru hand piece to cool tip & flush debris

Motor-driven
- 3,000-30,000rpm
- Water doesn’t come thru hand piece, more risk of over-heating tooth

18
Q

Dental handpieces
1. Attachments
2. High-speed…
3. Low speed…
4. Care

A
  1. Attachments
    - Burs
    - Disks
    - Polishing angles
  2. High-speed: Burs, used for cutting bone or sectioning teeth
  3. Low speed: Polish teeth with disposable prophy angle.
  4. Care:
    - Oil must be placed in smallest handpiece hole daily and then run for several seconds
    - Should be cleaned & autoclaved between every patient!
