WISC-IV (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children)
15 subtexts combine into 4 composite scales (ie factor scores)
- verbal comprehension
- perceptual reasoning
- working memory
- processing speed
- all 4 should be ~equal (otherwise suspect LD)
- more helpful info than full-scale IQ score

Mild: IQ 50-59
Moderate: 35-49
Severe: 20-34

Most Common Causes of ID
FAS (may have nl IQ but still neurobehavioral deficits, psych d/o)
Down’s (risk for ADHD, ODD)
Fragile X (FH of LD)
Language Delay Pearls
Difficultly pronouncing specific consonants: wnl <6yo
Always check hearing
Learning Disability
- can have normal/high IQ
- reversing letters normal t help
- trouble w/history or social studies can mean trouble w/reading or short-term memory
