Belief bias
Judging an argument on what we believe about the conclusion rather than its actual strength
Availability heuristic
Jumping to conclusions because of the lack of info and evidence
Conjunction fallacy
When an opinion in a previous area influences ur impression on another.
Ex: mark has hair
Mark has blond hair
He’s from sweden
Which is more probable?
Halo/Horns effect
Interpretation shaped by the emotion attached to the first impression. Adjectives are context dependent for example
Affect heuristic
We often make judgements based on emotions when it is inappropriate
Ex: emotional attitudes towards alcohol, vaccines,… prob think that the risks are high and negligible benefits
Confirmation bias
The tendency to search for and interpret info in a way that confirms ou preconceptions
Confirmation bias - self verification
To reinforce ones positive self-image
Confirmation bias - imposter syndrome
The drive to reinforce ones negative self image
Confirmation bias-self handicapping
Creating conditions for failure to protect one’s ego
