E:firstly researches use the empirical method to examine data on human behaviour to make initial inferences about internal mental processes. to ensure the IMPs are falsifiable, researchers would present a hypothesis (predictions). they would then test these hypotheses by conducting empirical research such as an experiment and manipulate the information presented to the participants. cognitive researches would make sure the experiment is objected by ensuring the data was free from interpretation. overall this would allow them to make the decision to abandon the theoretical model or revise it
