What is delirium?
-dulled awareness of environment
-reduced ability to focus
-impaired memory and judgement
-disorientation
What is the CAM test?
it is the confusion assessment method for ICU pt that is unable to speak
What is the serial 7’s test?
count back from 100 by 7s
-normal adult cognition should have attention span/ability to do this
What are s/s of intracranial pressure?
-headache
-blurred vision
-vomiting
-lack of energy
-less alert
-behavior change
What does decorticate posture mean and where does their arm move?
problem with c spine or cerebral hemisphere and the arm moves in and flexes
What is decerebrate posture and where does the arm go?
problem with midbrain or pons and the arm extends out and the hypothalamus is also affected
What is the pre-contemplation stage?
may need assistance in admitting there is a problem
What is contemplation?
have acknowledged problem and may still not be ready to commit
What is preparation?
getting ready to get help
What is the action?
making the change
What is maintenance?
ongoing commitment to recovery program
What is the first line for anxiety?
SSRI-> zoloft
What is the first line for GAD? example?
SNRI-> effexor
