Coeliac Trunk Flashcards
1
Q
What are the branches of the Celiac Trunk
A
- Left Gastric Artery
- Common Hepatic Artery
- Right Gastric
- Gastroduodenal
- Hepatic proper (gives right and left hepatic)
- Cystic (occasionally)
- Splenic Artery
- Pancreatic
- Short Gastric
- Left Gastroepiploic
2
Q
What is the blood supply of the Spleen?
A
Splenic artery branch of Celiac Trunk
3
Q
What is the blood supply of the Stomach?
A
- Right gastric– branch of the proper hepatic artery, which arises from the common hepatic artery.
- Left gastric– arises directly from the coeliac trunk.
- Right gastro-omental– terminal branch of the gastroduodenal artery, which arises from the common hepatic artery.
- Left gastro-omental– branch of the splenic artery, which arises from the coeliac trunk.
4
Q
What is the blood supply of the Pancreas?
A
- Celiac trunk → Common hepatic artery → Gastroduodenal artery → superior pancreaticoduodenal artery
- SMA → inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery
- Celiac trunk → Splenic artery → Pancreatic branches
5
Q
What is the blood supply of the appendix?
A
- Appendicular artery from the ileocolic artery
- Appendicular vein to SMV
6
Q
What is the blood supply of the Duodenum?
A
- Proximal to Major duodenal papilla: Celiac trunk → Common hepatic artery → Gastroduodenal artery + superior pancreaticoduodenal artery
- Distal to Major duodenal papilla: SMA → inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery
6
Q
What are the branches of the SMA?
A
- Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery
- Jejunal and Ileal Arteries
- Middle colic artery: supplies the transverse colon.
- Right colic artery: supplies the ascending colon.
- Ileocolic Artery: supplies the ascending colon, appendix, cecum, and ileum. In cases of appendectomy, the appendicular artery is ligated.
7
Q
What are the branches of the IMA?
A
- Left colic artery: supplies distal 1/3 of the transverse colon and the descending colon.
- Sigmoid artery: supplies the descending colon and the sigmoid colon.
- Superior rectal artery: continuation of the inferior mesenteric artery, supplying the rectum.
