Subspecialty of medical coding. Although there are programs that offer medical billing training by itself, you should consider a program that combines both billing and coding in one training program, since medical coding is the first step in the medical billing process
International Classification of Diseases
Maintained jointly by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaide Services (CMS). In this Capacity, they are responsible for coordination of all official disease classification activities relating to the ICD and its use, interpretation, and periodic revision.
