What is chrome plating?
An electroplating technique where a very thin layer of chromium is applied to metal
What are reasons to chrome plate?
Aesthetic reasons
Corrosion resistant
Increase surface hardness
Easier to clean
What’s Galvanising?
Iron or Steel parts are submerged into a bath of molten Zinc, The Zinc binds to the iron
What’s reasons for galvanising?
Corrosion resistance
Have a mottled camouflage pattern
Used to protect railing fences etc
What’s dip coating?
Hot metal is dipped into thermoplastic powder. The plastic melts and coats the metal entirely
What’s reasons for dip coating?
Corrosion resistance
Colouring the metal
Adding grip or nice surface to the metal
Impact resistance
