- White masthead light
- Red light on the port side

Any vessel propelled by machinery
Short blast and prolonged blast
Short: 1 second blast

Carried on all vessels over 12 meters in length
Gong
Carried on all vessels over 100 meters in length
High tide
Maximum height of water from the rising tide
Low tide
Minimum height of water from the outgoing tide

Mean low water

Spring tide
Higher than average high tide
Lower than average low tide
Neap tide
High and low tides are lower than normal

Movement of water is toward shore

When in doubt, assume you are overtaking
