The union of the ensign contins that arms of the US in dark blue on a white field, while the Coast Guard emblem is in blue and white on a line with the lower edge of the union, over the seventh vertical red stripe from the mast and has a width of three stripes. The color red stands for youth and sacrifice of blood for liberty’s sake. The color blue not only stands for justice, but also for our convenant against oppression. The white symbolizes our desire for light and purity.
