Coagulagram Values Flashcards
Fibrinogen
1.5-3.6 g/L
Platelet Count
Abnormal platelet count
150-450 x10^9/L
abnormal = <20 000
What does INR stand for?
International Normalization Ratio
Normal INR?
INR if on anticoagulation therapy?
INR for prosthetic heart valves?
Abnormal INR (contraindication for artline insertion)
0.8-1.2.
2-3.
2.5-3.5
>1.1
What does PT stand for and what is it’s normal value?
Prothrombin time - the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin.
10-14 seconds
What does PTT stand for and what is it’s normal value?
Partial Thromboplastin Time - the time it takes for clot to form in plasma after Calcium and partial thromboplastin are added.
60-70 seconds (>100 second signifies spontaneous bleeding)
What does aPPT stand for and what is it’s normal value?
Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time - a more sensitive version of PTT.
30-40 seconds (>70 signifies spontaneous bleeding)
What does TT stand for (also know as TCT) and what is it’s normal value?
Thrombin time or thrombin clotting time - the time it takes to convert fibrinogen to fibrin.
< 20 seconds
*thrombin is the enzyme the converts fibrinogen to fibrin
What does ACT stand for and what it it’s normal value?
Activated clotting time - measures the ability of blood to clot.
80-160 seconds
