A
  1. It gives the coachee a clear overview of the process, expectations, responsibilities, confidentiality commitments, logistics, and fee.
  2. it documents in writing the coachees willingness to be included in the credentialing process. And satisfies the ICF’s ethics requirement about confidentiality.

Identify desired and current states

A

this clarifies and helps the coachee to know what they want.

It is essential and extremely valuable to spend time here to get to a specific goal for coaching

The coachees May not know exactly what they want but they can usually be sure about what they don’t want

Moving forward is the goal. Change is the goal.

The coaches responsibility is to help discover as much as possible about the facts, reality, consequences, and possibilities of the desired state.

The coach asks questions and listens carefully to client responses and concerns about what is happening and why changes need it.

create awareness – uncover barriers

A

before a client can create strategies and action plans to make an appointment, permanent change happen they have to be fully and consciously aware is one of what is going on for them.

The coach can help a client develop new insights about motives, values, deeply held beliefs, assumptions, patterns of behavior that might be showing up in a variety of circumstances.

By exploring deeper structures of awareness, the client has the opportunity to make profound and lasting changes.

The coach also needs to help the client honestly address what could get in their way.

Develop a plan of action

A

once the coach she has discovered the true source of their dissatisfaction and opportunity to change the coach is ready to develop an action plan.

This stage involves exploring a wide range of possible activities to implement such as: Specific steps, dates, resources needed, And strategies.

Action plans often include learning new behaviors, further self discovery, expanding knowledge with training, reading, or other skill building options, role-playing, gathering and giving feedback, trying new tactics, learning new thought processes and many other techniques

coaching to the plan is often times an interactive process in which new things are tried and the plan is debriefed and adjusted.

In fact, the desired state and goals may also be adjusted as the coach he learns new things.

In many cases, new doors and understandings open up and the coachee re-examines and redefines the desired state

evaluate, acknowledge, and adjust as necessary

A

While measurement of progress takes place throughout the coaching process, The end of the coaching engagement is a time for formal evaluation.

At the end of the engagement the coach helps the coachee assess the coaching process and outcomes.

This is also a time when they formally in the coaching engagement

However before ending, it is important that the coach and coachee determine what steps are necessary to maintain the new state and continue to grow
