CNS and PNS Flashcards
what is CNS?
stands for the central nervous system, which is made up of the brain and spinal cord
what is PNS
includes forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. the peripheral nervous system feeds information into your brain and carries signals that allow you to move your muscles.
how are PNS and CNS connected
PNS is the connection between the CNS and the rest of the body. PNS consists of nerves that branch out from the brain and spinal cord (which is where CNS is)
what is PNS responsible for?
the cerebrum(in the forebrain) controls thinking, speech and reasoning. the midbrain controls alertness, motor activity and the sleep/wake system
what is the CNS responsible for?
responses, movement, emotions, communication, thought processing and memory
