Facial Nerve.
A
- innervates the muscles of mastication & facial expression.
- receives taste information from the soft palate and anterior 2/3rds of the tongue.

What is Bell’s Palsy?
A
- can be caused by damage to the facial nerve.
- paralysis or weakness of the muscles on one side of your face
- Bell’s palsy is not the result of a stroke

What is it often caused by Bells palsy?
A
The nerve damage may also affect your sense of taste and how you make tears and saliva.

Q
How is Bells Palsy treated?
A
- Most people who have Bell’s palsy recover completely, without treatment, in 1 to 2 months.
- Treatment with corticosteroid medicines (such as prednisone) can make it more likely that you will regain all facial movement.
