What is 4.1 Duty of honesty?
Honesty is central to ethical behavior and ACMP’s values. Our duty is to demonstrate honesty through understanding the truth and acting in a truthful manner in communications and conduct.
Tenets include:
- Honesty in communications
- Truth
- Sincerity
- Candor
- Honesty in conduct and behavior
What is Truth in communications?
- Seek to understand
- Communicate with intent to express the truth, undertake due diligence, extract truth at every opportunity
- Do not deceive or mislead
- Provide accurate and timely information
What is Sincerity in communications?
- Act with sincerity, communicate genuinely, ensure meaningful expression of intent
- Make commitments and promises in good faith
- Strive to create an environment where others feel safe, to tell the truth
What is Candor in communications?
- Establish relationships based on frank, forthright exchanges of mutual trust
- Conduct exchanges with respect, openness, and frank discussions (critical to health communication)
What is honesty in conduct and behavior?
Conduct ourselves in manners that demonstrate integrity
Act with the intention of preserving the integrity of self, client, or employer we represent and all other staff members
Act with trustworthiness, use core values in decision making, be reliable
Act consistently regardless of the situation, represent our personal/professional ethics, assume full responsibility for our own actions
