Cloud Computing Flashcards
Allows multiple virtual instances to exist on a single server
Virtualization
Specialized software that enables virtualization to occur on the physical machine
Hypervisor
This has two guest OS’s on top, one hypervisor in the middle, and hardware underneath the hypervisor
Type 1 Hypervisor
This has two guest OS’s on top, one hypervisor in the middle, hardware underneath the hypervisor, and a host OS underneath
Type 2 Hypervisor
This just runs the hypervisor as OS
Bare Metal Hypervisor
A desktop computer that is run on a browser using web, laptop, tablet, or phone. This looks the same as desktops at home or the office. Great for people on the go and can be used for web surfing or power point.
Virtual Desktop (VDI)
This provides easy front-end to configure physical and virtual devices throughout the network.
Software Defined Networking
Digitizes voice traffic to be treated like other data on network. Skype is an example.
VOIP or Voice Over IP
This is used by VOIP to setup, maintain, and tear down calls.
Session Initiation Protocol
Outsources a telephone system by utilizing VOIP to send data to the provider and then connecting it to the telephone system.
Virtual Private Branch Exchange (PBX)
This type of cloud involves systems and users who only have access with other devices inside the same private cloud or system. For example, Gov cloud is on Amazon & Microsoft servers, but only the government can go on this cloud
Private Cloud
This type of cloud has systems and users interact with devices on public networks, such as the Internet and other clouds. Google Drive is an example.
Public Cloud
This type of cloud is a combination of private and public clouds. An example of this cloud is accounting data in private cloud & HR data is in the public cloud. Another example is a gov cloud which is private, but the government uses Microsoft teams which is a public cloud as a response to the pandemic.
Hybrid Cloud
This type of cloud is a collaborative effort where infrastructure is shared between several organizations from a specific community with common concerns. For example, a cloud for bankers is an example.
Community Cloud
