Tunic and/or cloak.

A
Peplos, chiton, and exomis (shorter chiton).

Describe a peplos. (3 things)
A
- Usually wool (warmer than chiton)
- Worn by women
- During Panathenaia, kore would weave a giant one for the statue of Athene.

Decribe a chiton. (5 things)
A
- Usually made of linen
- Not as warm as a peplos
- Large, rectangular piece of fabric sewn up at side and shoulders. Held in place by a belt.
- Male chiton shorter than female.
- Women’s longer because she had to be modest and cover up if she wanted to leave the house.

A
- Short chiton, fastened at the left shoulder
- Worn by men only
- Worn for excersie, horse riding, or hard labour

Describe the three different types of cloak. (3 cloaks, two points each)
A
- Epiblema (shawl), worn by women over peplos/chiton.
- Himation, longer cloak. Worn by men and women.
- Chlamys (shorter cloak), worn by young men for riding.

- Men wore petasos, broad-brimmed hat
- Women wore flat-brimmed hat with peaked crown
