How does the cloning process work?
A
- Egg from one organism is enucleated
- Mammary cells from a second organism are collected and plated
- The mammary cells are placed in a medium without proper nutrients (starved)
- The mammary cells go into interphase
- The nucleus is taken from a mammary cell and inserted into the enucleated cell
- The new cell is given an electric shock and it starts dividing
- The cell mass is put into a surrogate organism

What is the breakthrough that was made in March 2009?
A
The first mammal cloning happened, Dolly the sheep was created.

Why doesn’t reproductive cloning work well?
A
- There isn’t an ethical way to do it just yet
- It should be possible to get this type of human cloning to work.
- Will result in huge numbers of miscarriages, stillborn babies, babies with birth defects, and so on.
