A
- Gillick competence is the principle practitioners use to judge capacity in children to consent to medical treatment
- Fraser guidelines are used specifically for children requesting contraceptive or sexual health advice and treatment
There is a requirement to ENCOURAGE under 16 to inform an adult/parent.
Must pass the test “can the young person understand the advice?” and “is it in their best interests to give treatment/advice without parental consent?”
