Clincal manifestation: prominent when change in Na occurs rapidly: Nausea, vomiting, weakness, headache, lethargy, seizures, respiratory depression, death
factors that alter water balance:
Appropriately elevated ADH (volume depletion, excessive water intake, altered renal water handling)
Inappropriate secretion of ADH (Cancer small cell lung, CNS, Pulmonary disease, Drugs–narcotics, antiemetics, SSRIs, Anti psychotics, antisezures, HIV
