CLIMB/CRUISE Flashcards
Describe the use of reduce thrust for climb?
reduce climb increase total trip fuel but
increase engine life
selection of Climb 2 once the flaps are retracted or climb constraints are assured is the recommended procedure to reduce engine maintenance
When do you perform a fuel check?
sector 1h30mins or less: fuel check after TOC
sector longer: fuel check every hour or 10° meridians on oceanic flight
how do you perform a fuel check?
compare fuel remaining and expected fuel remaining on FPL
compare sum of fuel used plus fuel remaining and fuel quantity at engine start
check that expected fuel remaining at destination is sufficient for safe peration
Where do you find TAT? SAT?
TAT is EICAS
SAT is progress page 2, FPL is SAT
Which temp do you use to minitor fuel temperature inflight?
fuel reservoir temp is given
TAT needs to be monitor
How can you raised the TAT? (3)
climb or descent to warmer air mass (3000 to 5000ft below optimum, FL250 may be needed
deviate to warmer air mass
increase M number (0.01M gives +0.5 to 0.7°C in TAT)
BA FTD consideration of fuel temp?
BA FTD will draw attention to the CA to areas of extreme cold if the flight is likely to remain exposed for more than 3 hrs below -65°C
SAT formula?
SAT±TAT-(M-50)
fuel consumtion Eng AI? wing AI? APU? APU off load? flaps 1
engine AI: 50kg/hr wing AI: 50kg/hr APU use: 105kg/hr APU off load: 50kg/hr flaps 1: 10% more than flaps up
fuel consumption, ISA+10°C, OPTI, 0.01M?
ISA+10°C: +1% opti ±2000ft: 1 to 2% -4000ft: 3 to 5% -8000ft: 8to 14% -12000ft: +18% 0.01M above LRC: 1 to 2%
What is LRC?
±M.80 for cruise within 2000ft of OPTI
Increase fuel consumption? (5)
Temp higher than plan lower cruise altitude headwind unbalance wrong trim
information to BA FTD in case of reroute? (4)
ZFW new waypoint co-ordinated ETA/FL for first new waypoint estimated fuel at first new waypoint does not apply for NAT track within 60Nm
How to croos an entry point within a certain time? time now is 1310 cross x point at 1500, ETA is 1440 what M do you need to take?
1310 to 1440 = 90 mins
1310 to 1500 = 110 mins
90/110=0,81 soit 19%
M.80*19%=.65
