Review
Emergency landing call? (2)
1000ft: cabin crew, take your seats for landing
200ft: cockpit speaking, brace brace
Precautionary rapid disembarkation?
Cockpit speaking, cabin crew clear the aircraft immediately
rejected TO? (3)
Cockpit speaking, cabin crew at station
cockpit speaking, normal operations
cockpit speaking, evacuate evacuate
pilot incapacitation/notification emergency?
cockpit speaking, number one to the flight deck
severe turbulence?
cockpit speaking, cabin crew turbulence, please take your seats
decompression? (3)
cockpit speaking, emergency descent
cockpit speaking, cabin crew remain on oxygen
cockpit speaking, emergency descent complete
fire cockpit?
purser to cockpit
fire in the cabin? cabin crew call
purser in front, purser in back
rejected TO before 80Kts? (10+1)
eng failure, fire or fire warning, airplane unsafe or unable to fly, master caution, system failure, unusual noise or vibration, tyre failure, abnormal slow acceleration, TO config warning, side window opens + predictive WS on VN
rejected TO after 80Kts? (4+1)
Engine failure fire or fire warning airplane unsafe or unable to fly blocked RWY \+ VN: predictive WS
MEL, dispatch definition?
point at which aircraft first moves under is own power for the purposes of commencing a flight.
MEL cease to apply and come into effect again when aircraft next comes to rest at the end of flight
status and alert message befor TO?
status after engine start: MEL for consultation only
alert message befor TO: NNC, MEL should be consulted to determine if relief is available for continued operation with system faults
≠ between ETOPS and RVSM/MNPS?
ETOPS is a dispatch consideration
RVSM/MNPS is NOT
defines Windshear?
uncontrollable changes from normal steady fight below 1000ft in excess of:
15Kts AIS
500fpm VS
5° pitch attitude
1 dot displacement from GS
unusual thrust levels for a significant period of time
WS recovery procedure?
do not change configuration except speedbrake UP
AP, AT OFF, GA push, MAX thrust, pitch 15°
When can you disregard EGPWS warnings?
above MSA and in DAY VMC with ground contact
EGPWS recovery procedure?
AP, AT OFF, max thrust, pitch 20° up to pitch limit or stick shaker or initial buffet, speedbrake UP
CABIN ALTITUDE or RAPID DEPRESSURIZATION?
Don oxygen mask establish crew communication check cabin alt and rate if cabin alt uncontrollable: Pax Oxy push and hold 1s without delay descent to 10000ft or MSA -thrust lever idle -extend speedbrake -descent VMO/MMO
what are the 4 cycles of a JET engines?
SUCK-SQUEEZE-BANG-BLOW
Identify a flame out?
LOW OIL PRESS
N1,N2,N3 ROTATION
Identify engine vibration?
LOW OIL PRESS
VIBRATION
Identify severe damage?
LOW OIL PRESS
NO rotation or very low rotation of N1,N2,N3
Identify engine fire?
FIRE LIGHT AND BELL
Identify engine stall?
EGT increase+ N1 not increasing, decreasing or surging
Identify engine separation?
BLANK INDICATIONS
ENGINE LIMIT or SURGE or STALL
AT ARM switch OFF thrust lever (affected side) confirm: RETARD until indications remain within normal limits or thrust lever is at idle
what are the conditions for the engine limit/surge/stall?
one or more of these occurs:
- indications are abnormal
- indications rapidly approaching or exceeding limits
- abnormal engines noise heard, possible with airframe vibrations
- no response to thrust lever or response abnormal
- flames in engine inlet or exhaust are reported
ABORTED ENGINE START
fuel control switch: CUTOFF
motor the engine most of the case
AIRSPEED UNRELIABLE
check pitch attitude and thrust
IF pitch attitude or thrust is NOT normal for phase of flight:
-AP AT FD OFF
-establish normal pitch attitude and thrust setting for phase of flight
condition for airspeed unreliable? objective?
airspeed or Mack are suspected to be unreliable
objective: maintain control using manual pitch and thrust
deffinition of airspeed unreliable? items?
airspeed differing by more than 15Kts from standby
overspeed, simultaneous overspeed and stall warning, amber line through one or more ADI, blank or fluctuating AIS
EICAS message that may be an evidence of unreliable airspeed? (10)
ALT DISAGREE, CAPT PITOT, FO PITOT, IAS DISAGREE, L AUX PITOT, R AUX PITOT, MACH/SPEED TRIM, OVERSPEED, PROBE HEAT, RUDDER RATIO
What are the condition for an inflight start? (3)
there was NO engine fire and
there is N1 rotation and
there is NO abnormal airframe vibration
ENGINE FIRE or ENGINE SEVERE DAMAGE or SEPARATION?
AT ARM switch OFF
thrust lever affected side confirm Idle
FC switch affected side confirm CUTOFF
eng fire switch affected side confirm PULL
if lights stay illuminated, ROTATE 1s time 30S
if lights stay ROTATE to other stop
EMERGENCY DESCENT, cockpit action?
1: MCP alt spin lower, HDG push 90° L or R, FLCHG push, speedbrake out
2: MCP alt 10000ft or MSA, speed VMO/MMO, thrust idle, transponder 7700
3: HDG back to initial, speed adjust
DUAL ENGINE FAILURE condition?
engine flame out and/or no response to thrust lever movement
DUAL ENGINE FAILURE?
Eng start selectors both FLT
thrust levers both idle
RR only: do not advance thrust levers during engine recovery until above 50% N3
FC switch both cutoff then run
if eng appears stalled or EGT approaches the standby engine indication placard limit: repeat above step as needed
VOLCANIC ASH condition? (4)
static dischrage around windshield
bright glow in the engine inlets
smoke or dust on the flight deck
an acrid odor
VOLCANI ASH?
exit volcanic ash as quickly as possible, 180° turn. at high altitude, 15Nm
