what is physic about?
physic studies the maesurable aspects of reality
what physics allows us to do?
measure= analyze the properties of something through observation and maesuration; determine the laws that govern it
how we can say that something is big or small?
we have to compare it with another thing
what is the experimental method?
we have to follow its steps to analyze and prove something
what does the experimental method consist in?
1) observe the phenomenon
2) identify the physical quantities and measure them
3)formulate hypotheses
4) make experiments to test the hypotheses.
the experiment confirm the hypotheses?
yes: the hypotheses become a law
no: you have to try again
what is a principle?
- is more general than a law
- is not expressed by a mathematical formula because it’s an obvious fact
what is a theory?
is a logical unitary model, composed by some laws
what is the measurement of physical quantities?
is the description of the instruments to use and the procedure to follow to measure it
what are the features of an unit of measurement?
it’s constant and reproducible, and every unit has multiples and submultiples

what is the I.S.?
the international system consist in 7 fundamental quantities and is the set of units almost universally accepted
