Q

What are 5 advantages of client server networks

A

1) security is better - it is centralised and a person is given responsibility for it.
2) centralised data - data is all held on the file server which means that all users have access to the same set of data.
3) backups are taken centrally - regular backups are taken by the network manager which means data and programmes are unlikely to be lost.
4) faster access to programmes and files - servers are used which are powerful computers so the whole network runs faster.
5) centralised administration - all administration of the network (eg allocation of usernames and passwords) is performed centrally so users do not have to worry about it.

Q

What is a client server network

A

In a client server network all computers are not of the same status. A server is used as a central computer for saving all the files an programmes and storing them. The other computers on the network are called clients. A network manager is needed to monitor the network.
