What is Christian Morality?
a set of moral standards based on the teachings of the church. It means there is a basis of the rightness or wrongness of our actions.
What is the condition of discipleship?
If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
What are the morality of Human acts?
Human acts are either good or evil.
1.) Object chosen
2.) End in view or intention
3.) Circumstances of the action.
Gen. 1:27
God created man in His image and likeness. This is to acknowledge that we are creatures, not God.
Gen. 1:26
Let them have dominion over all creatures that crawl on the ground. This is to know our place in creation, that we are stewards, not masters.
Gen. 1:29-30
He gave us every seed bearing plant all over the world to be our food. He gave us everything that sustains our life. This is to acknowledge God’s leadership over all His creation.
What do these tell us?
1.) We are children of God.
2.) We are caretakers of God’s creations.
What are the three meanings of human dignity?
1.) We have worth and value
2.) We are excellent
3.) We are worthy of respect
What are the three characteristics of human dignity?
1.) Inherent
2.) Inviolable
3.) Inalienable
What does the natural law of CFC 687-691 mean? What does this bring us?
1.) Persons are open and relational by nature.
2.) Persons are conscious beings.
3.) Persons are embodied spirits.
4.) Persons are historical realities.
5.) Persons are unique yet fundamentally equal.
This brings us happiness in union with God.
What are its effects?
- Allows the Holy Spirit to work in us like Jesus.
- Strengthens friendship with the Lord.
- Makes us persons of integrity.
- Attracts other people to God and to the Christian Faith.
- Helps bring about God’s reign on earth, a kingdom of justice, peace, and love.
Three conditions of discipleship?
1.) Deny ourselves
2.) Take up our cross daily
3.) Follow Him
