Cleaning draft system Flashcards
Clean the draft system every
14 days
The first goal of cleaning the draft system:
- To remove organic material (microorganisms that feed on the beer).
The 2nd goal of cleaning the draft system:
2.To remove mineral deposits that fall out of the beer and quickly build
up in the lines (aka beer stone).
Every two weeks, clean the entire system with a caustic line-cleaning
chemical to remove
organic material and prevent growth of microorganisms and wild yeast.
Once every three months the draft system must also be de-
stoned with
an acid line-cleaning chemical.
Beers lines should be cleaned
with a caustic line-cleaning chemical.
Faucets should be completely
disassembled and cleaned.
Keg couplers and tapping devices should
be scrubbed clean.
FOB devices are cleaned in-line and cleaner vented
out the top.
The cleaning chemicals are poisonous—don’t serve beer through the system until
the cleaning is finished
Wait until the cleaning process is entirely finished and the lines have been completely flushed with
water
