What are some main clauses?
Statements- standard way of expressing a fact or opinion
Questions- look for a question word at the start of the sentence
Commands- being told to do something
What is a clause?
There are 2 types of clauses, main clause and a subordinate clause
What are some subordinate clauses?
Temporal- tells when something happened
Concessive- start with although or even though
Causal- gives the reason why something happened
Relative- describes a noun, starts with which, who, whom or whose
What is a purpose clause?
Shows why something was done
Look for in order to, to or so that
Uses verbs in the subjunctive mood
What is an indirect command?
A command/suggestion/advice is given
Look for infinitives and to-
What is a result clause?
Gives the result of a condition
Look for a ‘so’ word and that-
The verb that follows the ut will be in the subjunctive
What is an indirect question?
A statement in which it states a question was asked
What is a temporal clause?
Has a verb in the indicative mood
Look for cum and dum clauses
