Classroom Management Flashcards
Tell us about your classroom management style. How do you establish expectations and ground rules for your students?
To establish expectations and ground rules for students, clearly communicate them at the beginning of the course, using positive language, making them specific and relevant, involve students in the process where appropriate, consistently enforce the rules, and provide regular feedback and reminders about expectations; model desired behaviors and address any issues promptly.
Describe a situation you encountered with a disruptive student/Soldier and tell us how you handled it.
I’ve had a couple of students who liked to talk during the lesson, which would interfere with the learning process. I would ask the audience a question. How would you feel if your Soldier was acting unprofessional and constantly disrupting the period of instruction (POI).
Time management is critical to ensure that instruction proceeds at a steady, appropriate pace. Describe some strategies/techniques you use in the classroom to enforce/encourage regular participation, timely submission of assignments, group discussions, learner progress, unexpected situations, etc
Within the class, I tell the learners that their training schedule is the crucial part of this course, it keeps you informed as to what we are doing each day as well as what assignments need to be turned in. I use checks on learning for learner progress, I make sure that everyone is involved with group discussions. (Need to be comfortable by being uncomfortable).
As an instructor, how do you determine if a student is falling behind and what do you do to get him caught up? What skills are you trying to develop in the student?
As an Instructor/Facilitator, you must be able to read your audience to see who is falling behind. Throughout your lesson, apply checks on learning, to see who’s retaining the information and who’s not.
At times, maintaining a classroom free of disruptive behavior can be challenging. What are some techniques you can use to prevent, or at least minimize, these disruptions?
By building positive relationships with students, addressing behavior promptly and privately, consistently enforcing consequences, modeling appropriate behavior, planning engaging lessons
