Who conducted reliability and validity in classification and diagnosis ?
By cheniux (2009) they asked 2 psychiatrists to diagnose the same 100 patients using the DSM and ICD
Reliability
Reliability is to gain consistent results when classifying and diagnosing schizophrenia
It’s the extent to which ICD and DSM consistently agree upon how schizophrenia should be classified
It’s also the extent to which two or more health professionals would agree on the same diagnosis
Reliability chienauxs study
Psychiatrist 1 diagnosed 26 people and psychiatrist 2 diagnosed 13 people having schizophrenia using DSM
P1 diagnosed 44
P2 diagnosed 24 using ICD
The results of reliability chienauxs study
Shows poor inter reliability as one psychiatrist diagnosed almost double the amount than the other
