What are the three criterions needed to diagnose SZ?
Criterion A- 2/5 of symptoms
Delusions/ hallucinations/ disorganised speech/ grossly disgormsiddd/ negative
Criterion B- social/ occupational dysfunction
Criterion C- Duration at least one month of symptoms
Who uses the diagnostic tools?
Health care professionals
What are positive symptoms?
Symptoms experienced in addition to normal experiences
What are Hallunications?
An usual sensory experience/ some have no basis in reality and some are distorted perception of feeling or facial expressions
What are Delusions?
Beliefs that have no basis in reality/ semantic- body/ paranoid- people are out to get you/ reference- T.V/ grandeur
What is distorted thinking?
When a person believed that their thoughts are being interfere per in some way

Insertions- thoughts are being inserted into their minds/
Withdrawals- thoughts are being removed/
Broadcast- transmitted to others
What are negative symptoms?
A reduction of function/ weaken ability to do with everyday life
What is speech poverty?
Lessening of speech fluency and productivity often due to slowing or blocked thoughts
What is avolition?
A reduction of interest and desires and an inability to innate and persist in goal directed behaviour
