> Sergei Diaghilev created a company of choreographers, dancers, artists, musicians, designers to create a collaborative company who travelled Europe and brought dance and theatre across Europe
encouraged choreographers to push boundaries and take artistic risks which made the Ballet Russes work cutting edge at the time

What is Graham Technique?

A

What is Cunningham technique?

A

> no storyline / narrative
used chance choreography
one of the first to used technology to help with choreo
vast change in direction and decentralisation if the space
centre barre work more like ballet Grahams floor work
strong sense of the spine and it’s capabilities (twists, tilt, arch, curve)
multiple directions, encourages students to avoid focusing on one foot
real focus on rhythm, space and shape
flat, classical footwork
disassociate with other features
