What is classical conditioning?

A

A learning process that occurs when two stimuli are repeatedly paired: a response which is at first elicited by the second stimulus is eventually elicited by the first stimulus alone.

A
  • Little Albert was shown a rat.
  • They then hit a metal bar with a hammer causing a loud noise.
  • This caused Albert to cry and scream.
  • After repeatedly doing this Albert start to scream when he saw the rat.
  • He associated the rat with the loud noise.
