Classical Conditioning Flashcards
1
Q
What is Kamin’s blocking effect?
A
If the CS does not provide any additional information regarding the occurence of the US, there will be no association between the two. The cue must be useful and non-redundant
2
Q
What is latent inhibition?
A
- If a subject has been pre-exposed to the CS it will fail to associate it with the US
- Because salience of the CS matters
- Cannot be explained by Rescorla-Wagner
3
Q
What is conditioned avoidance?
A
What a subject learns to take action to avoid or escape a dangerous situation
4
Q
What is learned helplessness?
A
When a subject has been conditioned to the fact that there is no way he can escape, he will stop trying
5
Q
What brain parts are involved?
A
The cerebellum contains Purkinje cells - That create inhibition in the interpositus - Which triggers CR
- Vestibulocerebellum - Regulator of the vestibular system
- Spinocerebellum - Regulates muscle tones and adapts the body to changing circumstances
- Neocerebellum - Involved in procedural learning, eyes movement and speech coordination
