Class Test 1.4 Circulatory System Flashcards
Describe what is meant by “double circulation” in birds and mammals
Double circulation is the system where oxygenated blood leaves the left side of the heart to the rest of the body, where deoxygenated blood goes into the right side of the heart, before entering the lungs and then entering the left side of the heart. This entails blood entering and leaving the heart twice (once oxygenated, once deoxygenated).
Which chambers and blood vessels contain deoxygenated blood?
Right atrium/ventricle and the pulmonary arteries, as well as all non-pulmonary veins
