Class Electrical Flashcards

1
Q

What is the difference between the unit’s class inverters?

A

Unit 1’s PN Distro panel needs to be manually transferred to the emergency source on a loss of power. While Unit’s 2 and 3 are static switches and power seeking. They will automatically switch to their alternate source.

Q

What do we need to do to class breakers for seismic concerns?

A

The breaker needs to be raised two inches off of the ground or secured with approved seismic restraints.

Q

Where are the directions for over-riding a SIAS load shed breaker?

A

On the associated LC. Push the trip button, after this is done a white “override light” will illuminate indicating the SIAS signal has been overridden.

Q

How do you trip an 86 relay? Why?

A

Open the breaker cubicle door, flip the 125 VDC breaker to off, removed the 86 relay cover. With gloves on push the 86 release tab. Put the cover back on, close the 125 VDC breaker and close the breaker cubicle.

Q

What is the “other” inverter for the in the class DC equipment room?

A

For the SDC suction isolation valves. DC is converted to AC for use inside of containment. Prevents sparking.

14
Q

Between the units 13.8 kV breakers, is one of the units different when racking it out?

A

When racking out unit 3’s breaker, you must pull the breaker out of the cubicle slightly to get the springs to discharge. Then we will push the breaker back into the cubicle

Q

Explain the relays for degraded and under voltage conditions.

A
  • 4 are for under-voltage are set to actuate when voltage drops below 75% rated.
  • 4 relays are for degaded voltage are set to actuate when voltage drops below 90% rated and remains for 30 seconds

16
Q

Describe the class batteries.

A

60 cells connected in series, normal operating voltage 135 volts, provide 2 hours to class loads on a loss of class battery chargers

17
Q

If we lose a class battery charger, how does the swing charger get placed on the bus?

A

An AO in the field has to get the swing charger online within 2 hours

18
Q

Where are the breakers connecting the class batteries to the 125 VDC control centers controlled from?

A

Normally from the control room. Can be operated locally in an emergency or for testing

19
Q

What is the normal voltage and frequency on a PN distribution panel?

A

Voltage- 117.6-122.4 VAC

Frequency- 59.5-60.5 hz

20
Q

What is some knowledge about swapping class battery chargers?

A

Break before make. We cannot parallel class chargers as it will damage the bus.

21
Q

Where does backup control power for AFN come from?

A

Directly off of Battery charger H11

22
Q

Where are the “other” SIAS load shed panels?

A

D90- 120’ Corridor building

D91- 120’ Aux building
