Whate are some of the LPNs responsibilities
- Responsible & accountable to seek out collaboration or support when they need it.
- Assessing & identifying the status of actual or potential client limitations & strengths.

What are some of the responsibilities of the RN
- Collaboration, may lead to clinical direction
- Provide clinical guidance for the overall plan of care.
- Client care is the focus of that clinical guidance.
What supervision might an RN provide to an LPN
- Following their nursing assessments before arriving at a nursing decision.
- Determining the most appropriate nursing intervention for a client as part of the care planning process.
What things does an LPN need to consider when assigning care to an HCA
- HCAs must have sufficient training, supervision & support to perform safely.
- Must provide client-specific instruction
- Must provide guidance, or direction, support, evaluation & follow up
What do regulatory bodies do
Identify scope of practice for the health professionals
Establish professional standards of practice
Establish requirements for continuing competence
Provide support for health professionals to understand and apply standards of practice.

What do health care professionals do
- Understand current policies, procedures and standards
- Ensure that all alternate care options have been explored
- In collaboration with the health care team, clarify whether the client can or cannot direct own care
- Use professional judgment and clinical assessment skills to determine when a delegable task can be delegated
- Demonstrate competence in the performance of the delegated task
Define quality assurance
is an ongoing systemic process designed to evaluate and promote excellence in health care to clients.
This includes three things:
1. structure: focuses on the environment where the care is given
- process: focuses on how the care was given
- outcome: focuses on demonstratable changes in the clients health care status as a result of the nursing care.
Define quality improvement
focuses on the process rather than the individual. It uses a systematic approach with the intention of improving the quality of care rather than ensuring the quality of care
Define audit
is an examination or review of records
Define peer review
other nurses appraise the quality of care or practice performed by another equally qualified nurse
Define the different tpes of continuity of care
Relational continuity: a therapeutic relationship with a practitioner that spans more than 1 episode of care
Informational continuity: it refers to data exchanges between providers and client related to care
Management continuity: the delivery of health care by several providers in a complimentary and timely manner thru shared mgmt plans that are consistent and flexible.
